Built Around Coffee, Food, and Community.
Three South Shore cafés serving locally roasted coffee and real food made from scratch.
Our Story
How It Started
SlackTide began as a ritual between longtime friends Zac Carpman and Fletcher Souba — slowing down, brewing coffee, and creating space to connect. What started as small-batch roasting for family and friends grew into our first café in Marshfield, supported early on by a community that believed in what we were building from the start.
Shortly after opening, Max Carpman joined the team, helping grow SlackTide’s wholesale program and shaping the foundation for what the company would become. Today, SlackTide has grown into three cafés, a local roasting program, and a full commissary kitchen producing donuts, scratch-made ingredients, weekend specials, and baked goods fresh every day.

Our Cafés
Come hang.
Marshfield
Our original location opened in August 2019. Sandwiched between The Levitate Backyard and Levitate, our flagship location is where it all started. All of our coffee is roasted right down the street in Marshfield.
Hanover
Our second location opened in September 2021 at 283 Columbia Rd in Hanover, MA. A part of the Previte’s marketplace, Hanover has a plenty of seating and is a part of the open market concept sitting in between Queen Anne’s Wine and Rocky Neck Fish.
Kingston
Our third location opened in May 2025 at 269 Pembroke Street in Kingston, MA. We remodeled an old deli / corner store building into a full scale cafe with an Ice Cream Window attached. The ice cream shop, Happy Jan’s, is run by our friends Julie and Christian.
The Team
Built by a local crew.
SlackTide runs because of the people behind the counter, in the kitchen, and at the roaster every day. From early-morning prep to dialing in espresso, our team makes it all happen.
