Like the slack tide, we believe it is important to find those moments of peace and stillness throughout our very busy, day-to-day lives.
The SlackTide coffee philosophy began when founders, Fletcher Souba and Zac Carpman, were in college. Coffee provided an opportunity to break from the daily grind. Taking time to shut down laptops and put down phones in order to brew with friends became a daily ritual.
It was during this time that we began exploring new single origins, process methods, and roasters near and far – discovering the nuances and complexities in the coffee world. It did not take long before we began roasting ourselves. Roasting small batches for friends and family grew and expanded to a website and blog recording all of our new-found coffee knowledge.
Opening our first retail cafe in our hometown of Marshfield, MA in 2019 allowed us to share our coffee with the local community. We work with specialty coffee importers to ensure that all coffee is thoughtfully sourced, recently harvested, and stored as fresh as possible.
With the success of our Marshfield shop, we recently opened second and third locations. Our Hanover location is located within the brand new Previte’s marketplace while our third location is a collab store, with Levitate Brand, within the Derby Street Shoppes in Hingham.
We continue to build on what we started. We now offer a full menu of made-to-order fresh food including breakfast sandwiches, local bagels, a selection of toasts and a full menu of homemade donuts and baked goods.
Our donuts are made fresh every morning from Tuesday – Sunday by our in house team of local bakers. The team is run by shop owner Zac’s mom. To learn more about our special donuts or to inquire about a custom order, check our donut page out.

Marshfield
Our first location opened in August 2019 at 1871 Ocean Street in Marshfield. Sandwiched between Rexicana and Levitate, our flagship location prepares our full menu and gets a daily selection of our homemade donuts. All of our coffee is roasted right down the street in Marshfield.

Hanover
Our second location opened in September 2021 at 283 Columbia Rd in Hanover, MA. A part of the Previte’s marketplace, our second location has a plenty of seating and is a part of the open market concept sitting in between Queen Anne’s Wine and Rocky Neck Fish.
